Pigment Over Metal Leaf Prints

The purpose of this post is to announce a new print offering I’m making available.  If you’d like more information on or would like to order a print, you can use the Contact form to get in touch.

The description is Pigment over Metal Leaf. These are pigment-based giclée prints on specially prepared translucent vellum with metal leaf applied to the back. The vellum is hand coated to accept the inks. After the print is made and has set up, the metal leaf is applied to the back of the print. The vellum is treated to maximise transparency and the luminescence of the leaf shines through the front of the print.

I’ll be debuting these prints at an upcoming solo show at The Rivoli Lounge in Toronto.  The Rivoli is a showcase location during the annual Contact photography festival.  The show will run from September 4 through October 28.  The opening is Friday, September 9 from 7:00 to 10:00.  The show is being put on in conjunction with the f11 Project which curates the gallery space on the upper floor at The Rivoli.  The complete set of images that will be in the show and additional information are on the F11 website.

The three images below are examples of the method.  All three are black & white prints backed by copper, silver and 23k gold leaf respectively.
