About – Robert Fisher

I am a commercial photographer, author, street photographer, freelance writer and contributor at Alamy based in Oshawa, ON, Canada.  Information about my commercial photography services can be found on the Commercial page.

In addition to my commercial photography, I do freelance PJ work as both a photographer and writer and have had an image chosen for the cover of a national magazine.  I have covered events for a number of publications both as photographer and writer and have also written for several publications.  A listing of some of my previous work is below in the Photography/Writing Credits section.  You’ll see that the articles are not just photography related and that I am able to research and write on a wide range of subjects.  My first book The Digital Zone System: Taking Control from Capture to Print was released by Rocky Nook in December 2012 and is linked in the sidebar to the right.  My second book The Mobile Photographer: An Unofficial Guide to Using Android Phones, Tablets and Apps in a Photography Workflow is scheduled to be released in December 2014.

I’m also a fine art photographer.  My main artistic photographic style is photoimpressionism which takes its name from the Impressionistic movement in art.

My influences come mainly from the traditional art world rather than the world of photography.  The use of colour, shape and texture by artists such as Monet, Guillaumin, Thompson, Carmichael, Lismer, Harris, Carr and others as opposed to a strictly realistic approach are what I strive for in my impressionistic photography.  The Pointillist style as used by the likes of Seurat and Van Gogh is also a look I try to achieve with the camera.  I try to bring this sense of abstraction to other subjects including my architectural abstract photography.

None of the images in the galleries on this site are done with ‘digital trickery’.

Fine art prints are high quality inkjet prints and will last for many years.  Only methods and materials that will help enhance longevity are used.  Canvas prints are treated with a protectant that seals the print and protects from UV fading.  Similarly, prints on metal are protective coated.  Traditionally framed paper prints only use acid/lignin free materials.
