Internetworking. What’s that? Many possibilities. A contraction of internet and networking to signify using the internet, specifically social media, for networking purposes. A combination of ‘inter’ and ‘networking’ signifying a multi-platform approach to networking. For example, face to face and social media. A question: Internet working for ya? Positing the question of whether a networking approach that includes the internet and social media is beneficial. Internetworking, con't >

A simple question. Does it have a simple answer? Is there a single answer?
Digital photography has taken hold. It’s established. It has supplanted film for the most part.
In the (relative) earlier days of digital, there was a trend to try to replicate the look of certain colour films – Velvia being, I think, the most common. There were actions and recipes available for creating the ‘look’ of different film stocks. These were popular for a short while but eventually receded into the background – for the most part. People came to understand and realise that digital was different from film – for the most part. People came to embrace that fact and deal with digital capture on its own terms – for the most part.
For the most part? Yep. For the most part. One area where there still seems to be a desire to cling to the analogue world is with respect to black and white photography. There still seems to be a yearning on the part of a good many people to try to replicate the look of a favourite b&w film. There are still plugins, actions, recipes and so forth that attempt (some better than others) to replicate or emulate the look of different black and white films. Why? Why Emulate Film, con't >
I’ve completed the transition from a standard website format to the WordPress format for the website. Use the nav. bar at the top or the page menu on the right sidebar to navigate through the site.
The Lighthouse section from the old site has also been moved over and will be added to over time.
A new page for Commercial photography and services has been added including a selection of images from past assignments.
ArtFolio.ca is an online gallery exhibiting the work of Canadian artists. I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been accepted to have a portfolio on the gallery and doubly pleased to say that I’m the first photographer who’s been accepted to ArtFolio.
Another new entrant into the HDR software field has been introduced by Nik Software. HDR Efex Pro is the newest in a series of plugins from Nik. The software installs the tonemapping plugin as well as a merge script so you can do both the merging and tonemapping. Nik’s 32 bit flavour is EXR (as opposed to Radiance HDR).
I’ll state upfront that I don’t own any Nik products (I’m using the trial version for this review). I, personally, feel the products are overpriced for what you get and I’m not a fan of ‘canned’ or ‘recipe’ based solutions. I know you can make adjustments after choosing a preset, but I still prefer a more DIY approach. I also know that Nik has a lot of users and a lot of fans and that’s fine. I’m just stating my viewpoint.
To start merging a set of files the command path is File>Automate>Merge to HDR Efex Pro. Very similar to the path for merging to Photoshop’s HDR Pro so there’s some familiarity here for those already using HDR Pro. A dialogue box opens where you choose your source files, choose whether you want to use alignment and deghosting. There are two types of deghosting and three possible strengths for each type. According to Nik, the Adaptive deghosting is best used for things like leaves/branches and the Global deghosting is best used for larger elements that move more through the scene like people or cars. We’ll see how these work later. You can also choose to open the resulting file as a Smart Object. Nik HDR Efex Pro Review, con't >
